- Balance (informal balance, and formal balance)
1.
(Informal Balance)
a state of equilibrium or equipoise; equal distribution of weight, amount, etc.
informal balance, is more complex and difficult to envisage. It involves placement of objects in a way that will allow objects of varying visual weight to balance one another around a fulcrum point. This can be best imagined by envisioning a literal balance scale that can represent the visual "weights" that can be imagined in a two dimensional composition. For example, it is possible to balance a heavy weight with a cluster of lighter weights on equal sides of a fulcrum; in a picture, this might be a cluster of small objects balanced by a large objectSymmetrical balance can be described as having equal "weight" on equal sides of a centrally placed fulcrum. It may also be referred to as formal balance. When the elements are arranged equally on either side of a central axis, the result is Bilateral symmetry. This axis may be horizontal or vertical. It is also possible to build formal balance by arranging elements equally around a central point , resulting in radial symmetry.

Week 4a Monday - Pen Tool Practice
The easiest way to improve your skills as an artist is to practice drawing; especially drawing what you see. So we'll start this week with more practice drawing shapes using the Pen Tool in Adobe Illustrator CS6.

Week 3a - Signs and Visual Communication - Digital Art Production Techniques(2)
Get definitions for the following two terms, and copy 6 sample images of each to your blog.
- Monochromatic : Monochromatic colors are all the colors (tints, tones, and shades) of a single hue.
Monochromatic color schemes are derived from a single base hue and extended using its shades, tones and tints. Tints are achieved by adding white and shades and tones are achieved by adding a darker color, gray or black.
- Negative Space: Negative space, in art, is the space around and between the subject(s) of an image. Negative space may be most evident when the space around a subject, not the subject itself, forms an interesting or artistically relevant shape, and such space occasionally is used to artistic effect as the "real" subject of an image.
